"Doors open," he repeats grimly. He grabs one of the headsets and puts it over her ears, before grabbing his own and climbing into the front seat. His heart is going a million miles a minute, but they're so close--

"Starting up initial flight sequence," he said, his voice audible both in the air and over the radio they now shared. Soon it would be too loud to hear except over the headset.

He started flipping switches, lights. The engine started with a dull roar. The blades started rotating soon after that, slowly at first, then faster, each swipe through the air getting louder and louder.

Somewhere nearby, one of those creatures screamed.

"Incoming!"
