UNSURE TIMELINE:
Bounty Posters

[ There's a gash on Rex's right side alongside some nasty looking bruising. It's the sort of thing that, in Rex's opinion, looks nastier than it is, and certainly isn't anything that a well-placed bacta patch can't fix. The expression on his face when he fires their own ship's blasters is a decidedly nasty one but Rex habitually has very little sympathy for anyone who draws on him first, and even less sympathy for those who draw on Poe. Their attackers wisely scatter and flee in the wake of blaster fire and there's a metallic crash as one of the explosives finds its home in their hangar. Serves them right. ]
So I look angry, and Poe looks pretty. Where does that leave you?
no subject
She hadn't unfurled her own bounty poster yet, but she responds dryly anyway: ]
I look like I put up with too much shit on this ship. [ She tears open another bacta patch, steadying herself against the swaying of Poe's evasive maneuvers before she smooths the bandage on over Rex's wound. ] Don't know why. The money's not even that good.
no subject
[ Scars are sexy anyway, right? ]
She looks like she's ready to kill and entire squad of Stormtroopers by glaring at them. [ He didn't look at the poster. He didn't need to: He'd seen it. ] It is, frankly, super hot.
And the pay might be terrible but at least the sex is good. [ Don't mind him, a good fight always gets him riled up. ]
[ He slams on the thruster so hard that the whole ship lurches, slamming anything loose back into the bowels of the ship. Off in the distance, BB-8's distressed whistle echoes through the ship, and Poe raises his voice to call back: ] Sorry, buddy! We got a fighter launching, so gotta shake 'em!
no subject
[ It's all in good fun, though. No matter how worked up the man gets, he's the best pilot Rex knows. He'd be a lot more worried about their current situation without Poe at the wheel. Thank kriff for that; Rex has never been the best flier in the world. He's always been happier manning the cannons.
He grabs another explosive and passes it to Andy so she can take on the secondary gunner chair. She likes the task as much as he does. ]
The pay's not that bad.
[ Well, he's used to no pay. In comparison, he's now enjoying a life of ludicrous wealth. ]
no subject
The pay is that bad. [ She calls over her shoulder as she loads the explosive. In typical Andy fashion, she gives herself a moment to light a cigarette and press it snug between her lips before getting to work. ] And half the time, everyone on this damn ship is too busted up to fuck.
[ It's utterly unconcerned and mostly just to taunt when she goes on: ]
You going to lose that fighter, or should me and Rex start taking bets on which one of us will shoot it down?
no subject
For the record: definitely not too busted up. And I will happily prove that once we're in hyperspace.
[ It was just a flesh wound.
The taunt rang through ship and Poe smirked, even if it was invisible to them. They could probably hear it. ]
Hell, give me half a breath and I'll line up your shot.
[ Never taunt a pilot, Andy, not when he loves doing dumbass manoeuvres. He pulled back hard on the thrust, suddenly killing their forward propulsion and nearly stalling them out of the air, before slamming on the auxiliary engines and launching them straight up. The fighter, unable to change course in time, was lined up to zip right under them in - well, now. ]

He just happens to do it after the battle. He may not enjoy fessing up to it, but he's as foolhardy as they are. Which is why instead of chastising them like he once would, when he was more concerned about their work as a team, about his image, and about getting out of things in one piece, he just says, ] Whoever doesn't make the shot has to muck out the engine room.
[ He likes cleaning. He doesn't like cleaning up oil. He doesn't wait for Andy's answer before pulling the trigger. He's a perfect shot, something he's always been proud of - which means that the only way Andy's winning is if she pulls the trigger first. ]</small
no subject
So, she doesn't pull the trigger first. She only sighs out a mouthful of cancerous smoke in resignation as Rex's shot takes beautiful advantage of Poe's expert maneuvering. ]
Jokes on you assholes — you'll have to deal with me when I'm cranky and covered in engine grease.
no subject
As if I wouldn't let you do basically anything to me while cranky and covered with engine grease. What's so bad about engine grease? [ Force knows he spends enough time covered in the stuff whenever he and BB-8 decide to make "improvements" to the ship. ]
Hope you guys didn't want to spend any more time in this system - the broadband chatter is lighting up about us. I'm gonna have to make a couple jumps. Any requests?
no subject
Of course you don't have a problem with it. You practically live there.
[ Thank god one of them does. Rex can't profess to know his way around all that junk. ]
Just get us away from the Empire. [ A beat. ] And preferably not to a desert planet. I've had enough of those to last me a lifetime.
no subject
[ As if the chaos ever stops. Trouble seems to find them even when they aren't looking for it — and when they aren't being paid for it. But the truth is, Andy doesn't much care where they end up. Even with that black eye and a bet lost, she's as content as she ever is. It won't matter where they go, as long as they go together. ]
Maybe pick a place where they'll have less of our posters.
no subject
[ He said this, but he was already punching coordinates into the nav computer. ]
Luckily for you, I know a place. Just don't look at me sideways when we get to the spaceport - the city itself isn't a great thing to look at, and there are a ton of bugs near the canals, but we can get out to one of the oceans once we get there.
[ Outside, the colour of the sky was going from bright blue, to dark blue, to black dotted with stars as they rocketed out of the atmosphere. ]
Okay, everyone strap in, I'm making the jump to hyperspace.
[ They only got a couple of seconds, though, before he was pulling back on the lever and suddenly the stars became streaks of light. ]
DAMN I'M IMPRESSED BY YOUR WOOKIEPEDIA-FU
[ Rex is cut off by the fact that they're propelled into hyperspace more quickly than he can finish his sentence, instinctively grabbing at the gunner seat's armrests. He's got a sneaking suspicion that any trip that they go on that's proposed as a vacation is going to be anything but, but that's fine by him. Even if they tend to spread chaos no matter where they go, it's a righteous sort of chaos and he enjoys it just as much as -- what, a beachfront vacation?
Once his body catches up to hyperspace - it will always give him pause, no matter how many times they do it - he clears his throat, rolling one shoulder. ]
As I was saying. Nothing wrong with bugs so long as we're not eating them.
no subject
I don't give a damn what the place looks like, really. I just want to sleep this job off. [ Gingerly, she prods at her own black eye, eyebrows pinching when it predictably causes a dull ache in her skull. ] Feels like we've been going nonstop for weeks.
[ Dryly: ] Might be nice to spend quality time together without being shot at.
no subject
Well, I'm not going to jinx it and say that no one will shoot at us, but I'm hoping for maybe a few less. And no bug breakfasts.
[ He walks back over to them so he can give them both a proper once-over - starting with Andy because she's the more likely to run away if he leaves her to last. He reaches out, letting his fingers hover just barely over her black eye, and he frowns. ]
Tell me whatever asshole did this was someone I shot in the meantime. Or that you did.
no subject
Did you see the explosion we left behind? If whoever did it wasn't shot by one of us, then they just lived long enough for a more abrupt end.
[ He swivels 'round in the gunner's chair, watching as Poe looks Andy over, placidly leaving the task to him. He gets to his feet and walks over to where Poe left the bounty posters, finally giving them a once-over. They're something all right. He never thought he'd have one of these. ]
no subject
What, you don't think it makes me look cool and rugged?
[ Dry as ever, because she knows Rex is right — maybe someone got in a good one at her, but that was probably the last thing of note they ever did before either getting shot down or blown up. So. Fuck 'em. She'll take the shiner.
Then, with a glance over at Rex and their bounty posters: ]
What the hell are we even going to do with those?
100 years later, woops
[ He walks over to the med kit and starts rifling through it. ]
I'm putting them on my wall, obviously.
One here in the cockpit and one in the bedroom.
